About the Recipe
There’s nothing quite like the smell of homemade chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven—it instantly makes a house feel like home. This classic recipe is one of my favorites because it’s quick, easy, and always a crowd-pleaser. The cookies come out with perfectly crisp edges, soft chewy centers, and plenty of melty chocolate in every bite. Whether you’re baking for a special occasion or just because you need a little sweetness in your day, this recipe is one you’ll come back to again and again.

Ingredients
2 ¼ cups (270 g) all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup (170 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1 cup (200 g) packed brown sugar (light or dark)
½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
1 large egg + 1 egg yolk (room temp)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ cups (270 g) semisweet chocolate chips (or chunks)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
Add the egg, yolk, and vanilla extract. Mix until creamy.
Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined (don’t overmix).
Fold in the chocolate chips. The dough will be soft.
Scoop ~2 tablespoons of dough per cookie onto the sheet, leaving 2 inches between.
Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers still look slightly underbaked.
Let cool on the sheet for 2–3 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
